Joanna is a Hong Kong-based journalist at the South China Morning Post as well as a freelance writer. Her work appears in publications including the South China Morning Post, The Nation, AlterNet, The UTNE Reader, The Georgia Straight, Herizons Magazine and rabble.ca. As a columnist for Canada's top feminist news magazine, Herizons, she provides her perspective on Canadian politics in each quarterly issue.

As a founding organizer of WAM! (Women, Action & the Media) Vancouver chapter, Joanna works to support gender justice in Canadian media. She received her Masters of Journalism degree as a fellow at Columbia University in New York, where she studied foreign correspondence, digital media and investigative journalism.
