Suzanne Fetting and Absolute Confidence
As with the general population, I have days when I feel confident, loved, beautiful and happy. I also have days when I feel guilty, messy and generally, uninspired by life. What I want most is to be able to generally eliminate the gross days and replace them with amazing days; who wouldn't want that?
I happened to be having one of those bad days when I attended Confidence Coach, Suzanne Fetting's (pictured above) Absolute Confidence Building Workshop.
Fetting was passing out workshop materials and prizes to the ten ladies in the room and enthusiastically explaining the importance of confidence in our everyday lives.
With other workshops that I have attended in the past, it can be difficult to get over the initial fear of sharing your thoughts and emotions with a group of strangers, but Fetting made every effort to make sure that we knew that we were in a safe, non-judgmental environment.
Her infectious personality never lacked authenticity, allowing us to truly open up about the things in life that bring us down and the others that give us the power to move forward, happily and successfully. I am always in awe of how similar we are as human beings in how we deal with everyday emotional struggle. By bringing together a group of similarly minded individuals, who share the same goal of change and transformation, the ability to pursue these changes becomes all the easier.
It was not long before I was dragged out of my negative state of mind and propelled to remember what I liked about myself and what I know is important. Fetting successfully combined her knowledge via an engaging PowerPoint presentation along with her own humorous and empathetic views on how and why we lose confidence in life and how we can gain this confidence back in order to lead fulfilling, prosperous, exciting and unique lives.
Growing up in Mission, British Columbia, Fetting faced many of the same issues growing up that we all dealt with: insecurity, growth spurts, awkward phases and bullying. So how did she become a Confidence Coach?
Fetting explains that she was always giving advice to her overwrought girlfriends who were struggling with personal relationships and in particular, the relationships with themselves. When one of her friends suggested that she should be getting paid for consistently dispensing useful advice, Fetting thought, "Hey! I really should be getting paid for this!"
At the time, Fetting was working for a large marketing firm in Toronto, Ontario, commuting between there and Vancouver and inevitably, doing a lot of traveling.
During long stints in the airport, Fetting began researching life coaching, writing and talking to people about their lives and struggles with self-esteem, confidence and what it takes to gain confidence.
After a personally devastating turn of events that found Fetting with a broken knee and without a job, she found that she now had the time to put the necessary energy into becoming a Confidence Coach full time.
"Everything has a lesson and everything has a purpose." says Fetting, who transformed what could have been a very low point in her life into a turning point that changed everything for her.
This blessing in disguise gave her the courage to attend school and continue her intense research. Two years ago, Fetting's goal of starting Absolute Confidence came to pass and it continues to grow and challenge her in many ways. "I love what I do. It is so amazing to have this vision and know that I am impacting lives in a positive way. Wow!"
