The 6'1 belle partook in the evening gown and swimsuit competitions during the preliminary round of the contest.

The Bachelorette, Emily Maynard, with host Chris Harrison at the season eight premier.

This past week marked the beginning of the The Bachelorette's eighth season. The series welcomed their first ever single mom, Southern belle Emily Maynard, as the lucky gal who gets to have her pickings out of the 25 handsome men. This is not the first time the 26-year-old West Virginia native has been on the ABC reality series.

Viewers might remember watching her proposal from Brad Womack during The Bachelor's 15th season. Emily won over the hearts of both viewers and Brad with her touching story of losing her first love and finance Ricky Hendrick in a horrific plane crash. The NASCAR drivers death left her devastated but also surprised, with the discovery that she was pregnant.

Her season on the Bachelor ended with her second engagement, but unfortunately, her dream of beginning a life with Brad ended just as quickly as it began. This time she's back, and on the search for true love.

Episode eight of the first season of the Real Housewives of Vancouver airs tonight as the drama continues to unfold.

Tonight marks the eighth episode of the Real Housewives of Vancouver season one, and feuds have been erupting like land mines. The war that broke out at the Keefer Hotel between Mary and Ronnie during episode six (over Ronnie's drinking habits), has created an equal divide between the good and the downright bitchy.

'The Dictator' Sacha Baron Cohen commends Stephen Harper for silencing media

"If there was ever an argument against democracy, it is Stephen Harper," said 'The Dictator' General Aladeen (a fictional character played by UK comedian Sacha Baron Cohen) in a predictably bizarre interview with CBC's The Hour host George Stroumboulopoulos.

"I mean, what sort of man is he? He's only got one wife. And he's got one stylist...you know he has his wigs done in Wadiya."

The dictator of the fictional country of Wadiya gave kudos to Prime Minister Stephen Harper for his stance on press freedom.

"I commend your leaders on silencing your media. For the last 10 years, I have not even heard a single noteworthy event happening in Canada. The people in Wadiya, they are very similar to you Canadians. Their greatest strength is sitting quietly, politely obeying without question."

Finnick Odair casting reignites Hunger Games racism debate

Finnick Odair is supposed to be a heartthrob. So what's wrong with Jesse Williams over, say, Zac Efron?

The most recent character from The Hunger Games series to gain media attention is Finnick Odair, the handsome victor of the 65th Hunger Games who appears in the second installment of the popular series.

Author Suzanne Collins described Finnick in the novel as tall, athletic, and muscular, with tan skin, bronze-coloured hair, and most importantly, "famous sea green eyes".  With the Hunger Games sequel in pre-production, buzz has erupted over who will play the series newest eye candy.

"King of Bollywood" Shah Rukh Khan victim of racial profiling at U.S. border: fans

Shah Rukh Khan joked about his detention at Yale University, while U.S. authorities insisted that his (second) detention was not a result of racial profiling.

Bollywood mega-star Shah Rukh Khan has been stopped by homeland security agents at a New York airport...again (he was stopped for questioning back in 2009). The star, known as the "King of Bollywood", was en route to Yale University, where he was invited to deliver a lecture.

"Whenever I start feeling too arrogant about myself, I always make a trip to America," Khan joked, during his lecture. "The immigration guys kick the star out of stardom."

"They (immigration officials) always ask me how tall I am and I always lie and say 5 feet 10 inches. Next time, I am going to get more adventurous. (If they ask me) what colour are you, I am going to say white," he added.

Although U.S. embassy spokesman Peter Vrooman apologised for the "inconvenience" caused, Indians and Bollywood fans expressed outrage, accusing the officials of racial profiling (Khan, like many film stars in India, has a Muslim name).

We asked Vancouver actor Alexander Ludwig -- who plays the most violent of the "tributes" sent into the arena in The Hunger Games -- his opinion on the portrayal of violence within the film, which features teens killing other teens.

"I think if anything, the Hunger Games is doing the exact opposite of encouraging [violence]," Ludwig said. "It's bringing to light the sickness and twisted-ness of a society in the wrong hands. It's  trying to encourage staying true to who you are, as opposed to losing sight of what's important in life, even if you're faced with difficult and chaotic times."

8:36 - Wow. A bittersweet evening for the team behind Hugo, which cleaned up in the first half, but watched the Best Picture win go to The Artist.  An enormous feat for a black-and-white, silent movie based on old Hollywood interpreted by a French filmmaker.

8:30 - Meryl Streep winds Best Actress for The Iron Lady. Finally.

8:17 - Oh what the heck? A.R. Rahman is in the house!!! How could he not have appeared on screen until now? And why don't we get to hear more of the music?

8:15 - Best Actor is Jean Dujardin of The Artist. Natalie Portman looking stunning in vintage 1950s Dior...she gives the audience zero suspense as she announces the winner straight off the bat.

7:56 - A bit of an upset -- or not? Michel Hazanavicius of The Artist stuns with Best Director win, despite Hugo winning a lot of awards in the first hour. He thanks the dog actor, Uggie (adding that dog probably doesn't care), and thanks the "crazy" people who put money toward his silent, black and white movie.

Public Safety Minister Vic Toews is getting bombarded with hilarious tweets and scandalous leaks on Twitter over his controversial "snoop and spy" bill that would give authorities access to citizens'  name, IP address, address and phone number -- without a warrent.

Toews created a stir by insisting that opponents of his new bill (Bill C-30, the "Protecting Children From Internet Predators Act") are siding with pedophiles.

In response, #TellVicEverything began trending on Twitter today, with users revealing trivial details about their personal lives to the Minister.

Here are some picks from the bunch:

"Facebook's IPO Will Be Way Overvalued" ; YouTube video by

At its highly anticipated Initial Public Offering (IPO) later this year, Facebook will be three times more expensive than Google. It could be one of the largest IPOs in history, financial analysts say.

The largest social network is expected to file plans with Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) today and launch its IPO in four to five months.

While its price remains unknown, the IPO estimate valuation could be as much as $100 billion dollars, MarketWatch Columnist Mark Hulbert told The Wall Street Journal in the video. Facebook is expected to go for $5 billion to $10 billion through its IPO, initially.

That would rank the company just below McDonald's, which is currently at $101.5 billion, Howard Silverblatt at Standard & Poor's told USA Today.
