Crowds and clouds gathered last night for the 21st Annual Celebration of Light. The Vancouver Fireworks display pits China against Spain and Canada. Last night, China's explosive pagentry lit the sky.

Vancouver Police, supplemented by officers from around Metro Vancouver, welcomed tens of thousands of people to English Bay and Kits Point this evening, a police alert this morning said. VDP said that the enforcement of liquor offences was a priority and officers both downtown and on public transit were kept busy with people bringing liquor downtown to the beaches and parks. Despite the amount of liquor, the vast majority of people continued to be overwhelmingly positive, friendly, and the event family-oriented.
After the fireworks ended and people were making their way home there was a report one minor stabbing in the 700 Thurlow Street. Reports were that two people were injured with superficial cuts and there was no suspect information. It’s unknown what may have precipitated the stabbing.
