A Growing Chefs Harvest Kitchen Party at From Farms to Forks 3
Imagine being in the kitchen of one of Vancouver's top chefs as they prepare gourmet dishes.
On Sunday, October 21, you could have the opportunity to do so. While you won't be in their restaurant kitchen, you'll be able to watch them in action as you wander through the classroom kitchens at the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts.
From Farms to Forks 3 brings to you a night of sampling food and drinks from the chefs from The Pear Tree, La Quercia, West, Provence Restaurants (shown below), and the newly opened Acorn, as well as 15 more spectacular Vancouver restaurants.
Some of the city's most prominent chefs and mixologists and the region's best growers and producers will gather together for a tantalizing night of canapés, BC wine and beer pairings, cocktails, and tasting stations.
Expect some witty comments from the hosts of the night, CBC's Margaret Gallagher and Fred Lee as they introduce you to this gastronomical adventure.
Tickers are not cheap ($149) but this event is a fundraiser for Growing Chefs! Chefs for Children’s Urban Agriculture.
Growing Chefs! is based in Vancouver, BC, and the two primary goals of the non-profit are to support and encourage the development and growth of urban agriculture and to provide an avenue for chefs and growers to engage in the community and to support food sustainability. Most importantly, they inspire children with the idea that they can grow their own food, even in the city. They do this by sending teams of chef volunteers into elementary schools—where they grow vegetables, cook with kids, and get the kids excited about eating healthy food.
