Leaders in Independent Media Speak at Media Democracy Day

Linda Solomon, of The Vancouver Observer, addresses a panel on journalism in the age of corporate media yesterday at Media and Democracy Day, as David Beers, editor-in-chief of The Tyee, award-winning independent journalist Deborah Campbell, and Sylvia Richardson, of CJSF 90.1 FM listen. The panel, moderated by Charlie Smith, of the Georgia Straight spoke to the bright future, small independent media offers. David Beers urged everyone in the room to support alternatives by sending links to the Tyee and the Vancouver Observer and other favourite online news organizations to five friends. The conference took place at the downtown public library and addressed issues like net neutrality and the impact of independent media.
