World of Warcraft Guide to Success
Posted: Jan 22nd, 2009
There are 6,790,062,216 people in the world. 11.5 million of those people play World of Warcraft. There are even WoW clubs that take place in Vancouverhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_of_Warcraft[Wikipedia] says it all:
"World of Warcraft, often referred to as WoW, is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG). It is Blizzard Entertainment's fourth released game set in the fantasy Warcraft universe, which was first introduced by Warcraft: Orcs & Humans in 1994. World of Warcraft takes place within the world of Azeroth, four years after the events at the conclusion of Blizzard's previous release, Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. Blizzard Entertainment announced World of Warcraft on September 2, 2001. The game was released on November 23, 2004, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Warcraft franchise.
The first expansion set of the game, The Burning Crusade, was released on January 16, 2007. The second expansion set, Wrath of the Lich King, was released on November 13, 2008.
With more than 11.5 million monthly subscribers, World of Warcraft is currently the world's largest MMORPG in those terms, and holds the Guinness World Record for the most popular MMORPG. In April 2008, World of Warcraft was estimated to hold 62% of the massively multiplayer online game (MMOG) market."
There are hundreds of reasons that WoW engages me. if you have never played you may wonder what the heck is going on for the 11.5 million who are playing. Here are a few of the reasons why I love to play:
1. In WoW you can play with other people around the world.
2. You can use microphones to actually talk to other people.
3. You have NO clue who they are.
4. You can add people to a friends list and play with them later on.
5. ill tell you more in feature columns
“If you like WOW and you like being with others who do...get to know other peeps...then you should come and join us for a drink,” says a player named Kailua.
Next column I'll tell you the funniest story about WoW and give you some tips to success in the game.
